Typing on your PC:

With a regular keyboard typing in accents is very simple.  All you need to do is the following below on your PC. But make sure your number lock is on and you use your number pad on the right side of your keyboard. Say if you want to type an “è” accent all you need to do is hold down the ALT button then type in the numbers one and a time, “1,3,8”.  Once you’ve typed the numbers in your accent will appear.

 

 é = ALT + 130

            è = ALT + 138

            ù = ALT + 151

            û = ALT + 150

            à = ALT + 133

            ç = ALT + 135

 

Typing on your Mac:

            Typing on your mac is very similar to typing on your PC but instead of holding down your ALT button your hold down your option key. Then once holding down your “option key” you simply press the “e” key if you want to make “è” accent.

 

 acute accent-  é =  Hold option key and e

grave accent-  à, è, ù =  Hold option key and ` then a, e, or u

cedilla- ç  = Hold option key and c

circumflex- â, ê, î, ô, û  = Hold option key and i then a, e, i, o, or u

 

 

Typing on your mobile

 

To type accented letters on an iPhone or iPad, press and hold the letter button you want, for example the letter “e” for a moment. A list of accented letters will pop up for you to choose from. The you chose the one you want.
